Fisher-Price toys began operation in 1930, and the first toy was produced in 1931.  Most original toys are made of pine, because it was easy to work with, and plentiful.  From 1943-1946, FP made wooden items for World War II.  The only toys of this period were made from scraps.  Plastic was first used in the 50's, and became the main material in the 60's.
